Winter "must haves".

All right so it's probably a bit late for this, but until it's June and I'm outside sunning myself with a book in one hand and a glass of ice cold lemonade in the other, it's still winter... There are a few items which are definite must haves in my opinion.
  • Vaseline - Surely a given right? I probably waste this stuff, the amount of times I apply it. Any kind of lip balm is great and does the job. I always have it in some shape or form in my bag.
  • E45 Cream - Unfortunately I had bad eczema as a baby and occasionally wintery cold weather/wind can be one of the triggers, so this, applied directly onto the dry, itchy patches of skin cures them right up!
  • Handcream - Although I wear gloves when it's really cold or keep my hands in my coat pockets, the wind can still get to them. My knuckles can get dry and crack, especially standing on cold train stations everyday 4 times a day..So I regularly apply hand cream after washing my hands. A cheap, generic hand cream from Superdrug is great and does the job, but I specifically like the Neutrogena Norweigan Formula concentrated hand cream which you put onto small localised dry patches like your knuckles.
  • A good facial moisturiser - Obviously this is a given but during the winter I adapt my morning/skincare routine. I tend to add in a heavier moisturiser to try to prevent/counteract dry skin. Your face is constantly battling the elements and unless you choose to walk around in a balaclava (each to their own of course...) then it's probably wise simply to up your moisturising routine. I like the No.7 Day cream, it's thick and rich and keeps your skin soft for hours.
  • Body oil - Okay this post is just moisturising central! But let's be honest, it's pretty important! After using my regular body moisturiser on a night after a shower, I gently massage in some body oil. I like the Palmers body oil, but Bio-oil is just as good. It depends what's on offer at the time to be honest with you! I mainly use this on my legs as they seem to get the driest but a quick slick of this and I'm waking up with gorgeous silky smooth skin.
  • Tissues - Because winter means colds and colds mean a leaky nose. Fabulous. No matter how 'soft' they claim to be however, your nose will become shredded. But hey, that's where your Vaseline comes in handy! Either way, it's more polite to be sneezing and spluttering into a tissue than all over your peers. Again, another item constantly kept in my bag.
  • Anti-humidity spray - AAAAHHH!!! Best invention ever! This is great for all weather; rainy and windy or even hot and damp. If it looks like it's going to be a rainy day I always spritz a generous amount of this onto my hair. It stops moisture from getting in and if you've got thick, frizzy, curly hair like me, this is a must have product! I mix and match between the Mark Hill one and the Lee Stafford version.
